Cindy Logan was born and raised in Ft.Worth, Texas. After graduating from high school in Texas, she decided to attend college in Missouri and attended William Woods University in Fulton from 1970-74, receiving her Bachelor’s Degree in Art with minors in English and Secondary Education. Returning to Texas after graduation, Cindy taught grades 6-8 for two years. After the first year out of college, Cindy married her fiancée Walter C. Logan II who was from Missouri. The couple returned to Walter’s hometown of Louisiana, Missouri to work in the family business, Stark Brothers Nurseries, Walter being sixth generation Stark.

Cindy taught privately while raising her first two children and becameinvolved with the Raintree Art Guild. In 1979, while president of the Raintree she invited the Missouri Arts Council to come help the community form an umbrella Arts Council, and the Raintree Art Guild became the visual arts section of the Raintree Arts Council.

In 1984, Cindy returned to teaching in the public education system as she began a 13 year run at Louisiana High School. While teaching at the high school, she formed the National Art Honor Society and became active in the Missouri Art Education Association.

A year later, she returned to get her master’s Degree from Webster University. Having 3 children, one of which was a baby did not make this easy. In 1988, Cindy received her Master’s Degree from Webster. In 1997 fed up with the “extra” duties which seemed to get in the way of teaching, Cindy resigned. At this time, she opened an art gallery/antique shop in Hannibal, Missouri. This shop was run by one of the partners and lasted some 5 years before that partner left the state and at that time the shop was closed. In 1997, Cindy also started teaching privately again.

Today Cindy is still teaching 3 classes per week, making art, selling antiques online and in booths. Two of her children are raised, out of college and “off the payroll” while one is still in college. The one still in college at Westminster College in Fulton plays football, so between following his games, producing art, and teaching, Cindy is very busy.

Her eldest son and his wife gave birth to Cindy’s first grandson in July. She serves as the visual arts representative to the Raintree Arts Council and as a deacon of the First Presbyterian Church. She has been selected and agreed to serve on the Missouri Arts Council Community Arts Panel beginning this spring.

This past summer Cindy completed Louisiana’s largest mural measuring 8'2" x 65' that depicts the historical churches of Louisiana before 1900, located on Tennessee St between 6th and 7th streets. Her latest mural joins "Winter in Henderson Park" which she completed in 2003 and may be seen at Georgia & 3rd in downtown Louisiana.

The Louisiana murals, which now number more than 20, are part of a downtown resurgence that is evident all over the downtown area. Best of Missouri Hands artists like Cindy are helping this revitalization through their efforts in the community.

During the last weekend in January, downtown Louisiana is on display at the Winter River Festival, an annual event featuring Best of Missouri Hands Artisans, a Missouri Wine Festival, Polar Plunge, horse drawn carriage rides, and a chili cook-off.
