Michaela Kornblum comes to the art world after a long and distinguished career in teaching. A life long resident of St. Louis, Micha received a Bachelor of Science in Education from the University of Missouri and a Masters Degree, Summa Cum Laude, in Curriculum Development from Lindenwood University. She retired after 28 years of teaching Physical Science, Astronomy and Meteorology in the Fort Zumwalt School District having received numerous teaching honors. Being an avid gardener and with a profound interest and background in Geology and Paleontology, she was immediately drawn to, and inspired by, the beautiful cement creations of George Little and David Lewis. Here was a technique that combined the unique beauty of Nature's creations with the preservation techniques of fossil study in a medium that offered the distinctive qualities of dimension, color, history and function. Her truly one of a kind creations are crafted from leaves taken from her gardens as well as interesting specimens from around the countryside. The beauty of each leaf is captured forever in exquisite detail and beautifully painted to highlight every lovely feature. Over the past five years Micha has exhibited in numerous shows. Her work can be found in many of the fine homes and offices in Missouri, Illinois, and surrounding states. She is very pleased and honored to have been juried into the Best of Missouri Hands.
