Cynthia C. Morris of Sedalia, MO has become an accomplished, award-winning colored pencil artist in just a few short years and is a signature member of the CPSA (Colored Pencil Society of America). Her very first colored pencils works were created in 1996 when commissioned to create a greeting card for the local bank at which she is employed as an Assistant Vice President and Marketing Director.

A primarily self-taught artist, Cindy’s biggest challenge is finding time to create these realistic colored pencil paintings with most pieces taking 50 hours or longer to complete. Working strictly free-hand from reference photos, her attention to detail, color, composition and light, along with a unique style of layering, results in a realistic quality leaving those who view her work unaware they are colored pencil creations. With each creation Cindy learns a new appreciation for colored pencils as she continually practices new techniques and discovers the freedom of expressing herself through them. She hopes those who view her work will see and experience the attention to detail and color she is trying to express.

Cindy’s commissions range from home portraits to pet portraits and greeting cards to favorite photographic scenes. All are created with Sanford Prismacolor colored pencils on acid free mat board for museum quality durability.

Cindy is a member of the Colored Pencil Society of America, a juried member of Best of Missouri Hands, a selected member of the Missouri 50 Competition Committee, President of the Sedalia Visual Art Association and member of Mid Missouri Artists and the Columbia Art League. Her works are included in public and private collections throughout Missouri and have been exhibited in numerous regional and international shows. She is represented by Art Impressions Gallery in Sedalia, MO.
