Lanie's art is an emotional and expressive interpretation of realism that engages the imagination. Using gouache in a combination of loose strokes and close detail, her paintings capture color and light to create mood. Her art draws the viewer into a world inspired by her life--a life filled with horses, nature, wildlife, scuba diving, and the rural Ozarks. "As each piece is created," she says, "I feel the energy of the moment, smell the richness of life, hear the voice of nature, see the colors of light, sense unspoken communication." Lanie is the featured artist at the 2006 Nebraska Horse Expo. Her painting "Rider Reflection" was selected as the theme art for the Expo and appears on posters, programs, and souvenirs from the exhibition. In 2004, Lanie was selected to paint a life-sized horse statue for the Kentucky Derby event "Gallopalooza". Her statue "The Sun Horse" used multicultural symbols to depict the influence of the sun and power of the horse in human culture. This installation was on view in Louisville, Kentucky for six months and is permanently recorded in the book Gallopalooza: Louisville's Sidewalk Derby. Professional Rodeo Cowboy Association events have used Lanie's art from 2001 to 2006 for their advertising. Lanie is one of 50 notable horsewomen featured in the book Of Women and Horses. Her artwork appears in that book, as well as in magazines such as Mules and More and The Trail Rider. Her graphic art was featured in three international best selling CDs from Vector Art. Lanie's one person exhibits include many galleries and businesses, such as the flagship store of Bass Pro Shops Outdoor World (Springfield, Missouri). For many years, Lanie juried into regional and national art shows, winning awards in various categories. Her original works are in public and private collections throughout the United States. Beginning in 1983 Lanie owned and operated a sign/ graphics company. By 2004 demand for her artwork increased so much she sold the company to dedicate herself exclusively to painting. Love of horses, western culture, and her own native heritage are the inspiration for Lanie's artwork. Extensive study of technique, anatomy, habitat and personal experience bring life to her subjects. She constantly seeks creative ways to portray her subject while maintaining accurate conformation, believable representation and emotional expression. It is Lanie's wish that you inject your own thoughts and experiences into each piece, giving you a connection to the work's inspiration. Lanie Frick
